Small English-Russian Dictionary from Svet
Part II (We wish you..)
Here we are going to talk about very pleasant things: День Рождения and Новый Год.
People in Russia can like different holidays: someone likes Easter, someone likes the 8th of March!
But everybody likes Birthday and New Year. Why New Year - because we think that all bad things leave us
in Old Year and New Year will bring us just all the best. People in Russia think that
"How you meet New Year the same way You will spend whole next year". That's why people try to be happy anf
merry, wearing best clothes and eat best food usually as much as possible ;). Дед Мороз comes to kids at New
Year Ave and put gifts under Ёлка.
And the first what all Russian kids do the 1st of January (when parents still sleep after too much food and drink)
they run to Ёлка to see what presents they got from Дед Мороз. More about Russian Santa Claus you can read
here or here.
And now we'll learn some good Russian words
